The Chrono Quests are a series of optional missions, which give the player exclusive items for crafting high-end equipment like the dragon sword and dragon helmet, if completed within a time limit (which starts ticking down as soon as you join the game), and other restraints. Initially, there were 3 quests released in the Chrono Quests update on the 28th of July. Four more quests were added later on, in the Purge and Sounds Good updates. And now there are 13 quests, the last ones that have been added are the quests regarding the desert, and exploring all biomes. Please note, that as of now, Starve.io displays the time left to complete a Chrono Quest as 1 day less than it actually is. For example, When you spawn in, the game tells you that you have 2 days to complete the Orange Gem quest, when in reality you have 3.

Chrono

Chrono Quests Logo

Other than the orange gem and blue gem, you must complete the quest using your own items, as opposed to getting items from other players. Specifically, most quests have the following constraints:

Note: If you open a box or treasure chest with a full inventory, you may not get the item. In such a case, you can continue to do quests. Because of this, it is possible to complete the orange gem and blue gem quests.

Blue Orb Quest[]

"Collect 1 dragon heart in the cave"

Inv blue orb

Quest added in the Chrono Quests Update.

Quest: Gather 1 Dragon Heart in 6 days. The dragon must be in the cave or in the winter when you kill it, so you cannot, for example, use a boat to kill the dragon inside the ocean

Reward: 1x Blue Orb used to craft Dragon Bow, Dragon Sword and Dragon Spear.

Tips to complete it[]

  • First priority will be getting the backpack and book . Try to do so within 2 days.
  • Secondly, craft a gold pickaxe. Then try to craft a gold sword or spear, Its not necessary, but it makes the job a whole lot easier.
  • It would be good to craft a wolf chapka if possible within 2 days so that you have more protection in the winter.
  • Craft one bottle and if you have the time to do so, craft a golden shovel.
  • Advance to winter and kill winter animals on the way by circling around a fire.
  • Lead the dragon to the row of 3 diamonds in the cave. You want to be above, while the dragon is below. Now, you can hit the dragon with a sword or spear. The dragon can still hit you through the barrier, so you need to move down to lure the dragon, then up so you don't get hit, for that reason spears are more preferable for this.
  • If you are good at riding a sled through the cave, you can kill a dragon while riding the sled.
  • In the forest, get 50 gold for a golden pickaxe and spear. If you are going for the sword, get 60 gold.

Information[]

Originally, the time limit was 7 days, and you did not need to kill the dragon inside the cave. It was decreased to 6 days in the "It smells like burning!" update, and you need to kill the dragon inside the cave in the "It smells like burning! (part 2)" update.

Blue Cube Quest[]

"Gather 1 amethyst"

Inv blue cube

Quest added during the Chrono Quests Update.

Quest: Gather 1 Amethyst in 3 days.

Reward: 1x Blue Cube used to craft Dragon Helmet

Tips to complete it[]

  • Do the same as the Blue Orb Quest, but mine your Amethyst along the way.
  • Cross the winter as fast as possible. To do this, stay at a campfire until your heat is neutral, then move on.
  • Make sure you have at least 50 gold and 100 stone as you approach the cave. This allows you to make a diamond pickaxe, and still have some stone for campfires.
  • If you plan to kill polar bears/arctic foxes along the way (to make a winter scarf and cap) attack around a fire when you are next to a fire. When you are warm enough to keep going, continue to go north and attack the mob.

More information[]

Originally, the time limit was 6 days. It was decreased to 5 days in "The purge" and 3 days in "It smells like burning!"

Green Gem Quest[]

"Survive without losing life"

Inv green gem

Quest added during the Chrono Quests Update.

Quest: Survive 4 days without losing any life.

Reward: 1x Green Gem used to craft Crown of Life.

Tips to complete it[]

  • Make a stone pickaxe as soon as possible.
  • Only hunt mobs if you know what you are doing. Rather hunt rabbits and collect berries.
  • Do not HUNT spider if you not a expert player. If you must kill a spider, use a spear, as it is much less likely to hit you.
  • Always have a spare fire.
  • You can go to an island, or place walls, and start a small berry farm.
  • Stay away from people ( as much as you can )- even a barehanded hit can make you fail the quest!

If you want a complete guide on how to do this quest, go to "Green Gem quest" in-depth guide

More information[]

Originally, you had 5 days to complete this quest. It was decreased from 5 days to 4 days in "The purge".

Orange Gem Quest[]

"Open 5 treasure chests"

Inv gem orange

Quest added in the Purge Update.

Quest: Open 5 Treasure Chests in less than 3 days.

Reward: 1x Orange Gem used to craft Crown of Luck.

Unlike most quests, you can open boxes, use starter kits, etc.

Tips to complete it[]

  • An easy way would be to get one of the starter packs, preferably the one with the diving mask.
  • Travel to all islands looking for chests.
  • If you do not use a starter kit, learn to cross the ocean without getting chased by GMO piranhas.
  • In an average server with around 25 players, 2-3 rounds should do it.
  • Opening a treasure chest causes you to fail all quests except this one and the peaceful quest. If you want to do another quest, make sure your inventory is full when you open each treasure chest.

More information[]

This quest was added in "The purge".

Blue Gem Quest[]

"Be peaceful"

Inv gem blue

Quest added in the Purge Update. Quest: Don't hurt any players for 6 days.

Reward: 1x Blue Gem used to craft Crown of the Angel.

Constraints:

  • Don't attack other Players. (Note: The pitchfork deals no damage, but it is still considered an attack.)
  • Don't kill any mob that neutral or harmless (damaging will not fail the quest) Rabbits, Penguins, Boars, or Hawks.
  • No placing spikes. However, you can plant thorn bushes.

Unlike most quests, you can open boxes, use starter kits, etc.

Tips to complete it[]

  • Stay away from other players ( the same as life quest ).
  • Do as much as you can that does not involve killing rabbits or other peaceful/neutral mobs. For example, get the string and wolf fur you need to make a chapka, then kill a rabbit once the quest is complete. You can also go to winter without a coat, although this is more difficult.
  • Unlike most quests, you can use other players' items. Use chests rather than crates, so you are less likely to hit them. This way, you can get rabbit fur, and other items that are otherwise off limits.
  • If you are doing another quest but still want rabbit fur (or another peaceful mob drop) have someone else kill the mob so you can take the box.

This quest was added in "The purge".

White Wolf Fur Quest[]

"100 bread in winter, alone, without come back"

Inv special fur 1

Quest: Collect 100 bread in winter in less than 5 days. Players must grow their own wheat, use their own windmills, and use their own bread ovens. As of an unknown update, you must grow the wheat and use the windmills in winter (it was previously possible to do these in the forest, then bake the bread in winter). Also, once in winter, you cannot leave until you have completed the quest.

It is okay to drop or eat the bread, you just have to bake it.

Reward: 1x White Wolf Fur used to craft Winter Peasant's Tunic.

Tips to complete it[]

  • Spawn in night time
  • Play as usual. Try to go to Winter Biome before 2 days.
  • Get stone pickaxe, stone sword, and a machete before the first half of the 1st day passes.
  • The second half of the 1st day should be focused on killing spiders and wolves to get a backpack and IKEA Manual.
  • The first half of the 2nd day should be focused on getting a stone shovel for dirt (which are used to make plots) and sand (which are used for the water bottle).
  • The second half of the 2nd day is used for any extra preparation, though you should be in winter by this time.
  • Remember to bring at least 2 thread, 30 dirt, a watering can, a bottle, and a wheat seed. Gold tools and a peasant's tunic are also desirable, so try to get all that done within 3 days.
  • Craft a windmill and 2 bread ovens. If you only have 1 seed, make another once you can. More is unnecessary, wheat crops boosted with plant plots grow very fast.
    How_to_do_Winter_Peasant_Blue_Gem_Green_Gem_Starve.io

How to do Winter Peasant Blue Gem Green Gem Starve.io

  • Continue harvest your crops, using you windmill and ovens, while watching your status bars. If you have enough resources quickly craft a few walls and a door to seal off you mini home to avoid other players and winter animals.
  • You need atleast 9 minutes to done this quest ( 8 if you are a speed runner )

If you want a complete guide on how to do this quest, go to "White Wolf Fur quest" in-depth guide.

(This video will also tell you how to get the green and blue gem)

More information[]

This quest was added in the "Sounds good" update. The time was increase from 3 days to 5 days in the "What do I look like?" update. In the "Bizzarre" update, you must also grow the wheat in winter.

Black Wolf Fur Quest[]

"After 1 day, survive in winter"

Inv special fur 2

. Quest: After 1 day of preparation, survive in the winter for 4 more days.

Reward: 1x Black Wolf Fur used to craft Winter Hood.

Tips to complete it[]

  • Spawn in day time
  • Craft a stone pickaxe for getting resources before making a sword
  • Make a stone shovel to make a bottle, and make sure it is full when you go to winter
  • It is VERY important to predict when your campfires go out (tier 1 lasts quarter of the day / night while tier two lasts three times longer)
  • Be very aware of your status bars (water, food etc.)
  • Try to place campfires near resources
  • Learn how to fight winter mobs (circle them in a fire)
  • Don't just stay in one spot, as you will find a lot more mobs by moving around. The exception is during a blizzard, where you need to stay under a roof.
  • Another way to complete this quest is to make a berry farm. Try to have 3 plots.
  • You have only 1 day in forest , so get as much food and resource as possible ( berries and meat )

More information[]

This quest was added in the "Sounds good" update. In the "Bizzarre" update, you have a full day of preparation instead of half a day (but there are blizzards, making it harder to survive in winter).

Lava Orb Quest[]

"Kill the Lava Dragon inside the Lava Biome"

Chrono Quests - Lava Orb

Quest: Kill a Lava Dragon in 10 days.

Reward: 1 Lava Orb used to craft a Lava Sword or Spear.

Tips[]

  • The most common way to complete this quest is to kill the lava dragon with a pickaxe. Reidite is best, but any pickaxe (or machete) will do the trick.
  • Bring a good amount of ice as it will take a long time to kill the lava dragon , Suggested 400 ice to 500 ice.

More information[]

This quest was added in the "Time is running out!" update.

Lava Cube Quest[]

"Gather 1 Reidite"

Lava Orb

Quest: Get 1 Reidite within 6 days.

Tips[]

  • This quest is almost the exact same as the Blue Cube Quest, so whatever you did to complete that, you can do it here too, but just make an amethyst pickaxe and collect some ice cubes.
  • It is easier to do than blue cube, since you have more time. However, it is not useful unless you also completed the blue cube quest.

More information[]

This quest was added in the "Time is running out!" update. The time was increased from 5 days to 6 days in the "Bizzarre" update.

Pitchfork Part[]

"100 bread in desert, alone, without come back".

Golden Pitchfork

Quest: Collect 100 bread in the desert in 7 days.

Like the white wolf fur quest, you must grow the wheat and make flour in the desert, and you must use your own items. Once in the desert, you cannot leave until you have completed the quest.

Tips[]

  • Before going to the desert, make a turban and collect some ice. Also get as much wood as possible.
  • Build your farm next to an oasis so you don't have to use ice for water. This also lets you get more wood, in case you didn't bring enough.
  • Have a roof on top of a bridge so you can easily escape vultures and sandworms. It also protects you from sandstorms, although this is not a major concern if you have a turban.
  • If you build a line of 6-7 bridges, you can place all of the bread ovens, windmills, and plots you need adjacent to them, so you dont need to worry about sandworms targeting you. You can also overlap one of the bridges with an oasis so you can easily drink water.

More information[]

This quest was added in the "Desert" update. In the "Bizzarre" update, you must grow the wheat in the desert. In the "More Ways to Kill Animals" update, the time was increased from 6 days to 7 days.

Pilot Glasses[]

"Gather 1 Emerald"

Pilot Glasses

Quest: Gather 1 Emerald in 6 days.

Tips[]

  • Make a golden shovel before winter. You can also collect gold in winter and make a shovel there (the winter has more gold than the forest).
  • Make a turban. This warms you up a little in the winter, and it is very useful in the desert.
  • Try to enter winter on day 3. You can also go to winter earlier and do the blue cube quest.
  • Gather amethyst from the cave and make an amethyst pickaxe.
  • Make sure you have food and ice before going to the desert.
  • Once in the desert, get to the southeast corner as fast as possible.
  • Don't worry about sandstorms, as the turban provides good protection. Unlike blizzards, you can heal in a sandstorm, so you can use aloe vera to counteract the damage you do take.

More information[]

This quest was added in the "Desert" update.

+1 Inventory Slot[]

"Kill 1 Sand Worm"

Empty Slot

Quest: Kill 1 Sand Worm in 8 days. (technically, you need to take the box while in the desert).

Tips[]

This quest is fairly easy to do in conjunction with the golden pitchfork, pilot hat, or the other bag quest, since you are in the desert anyway. Like the other desert quests, a turban is recommended, as you will need less ice and can pretty much ignore sandstorms.

Stand briefly on top of the sandworm (about 1 second) then start moving and attacking (you can hold to attack as you would when killing a wolf). Once the sandworm goes back into the ground, repeat this process. If you take damage, stop attacking and use some aloe vera.

It is okay to have multiple sandworms at once, just fight the cluster as you would fight a single sandworm. However, avoid vultures, as you they will kill you if you hold to attack. If a vulture starts chasing you, move without holding a sword, or place a roof, to get the vulture away.

This quest was added in the "Desert" update

+1 Inventory Slot []

"Explore each biome for at least 1 day"

Empty Slot

Quest: Explore each biome for at least 1 day in 7 days.

For any given biome, the timer for that biome does not reset when you leave. For example, when spending a day in the lava biome, you can occasionally step into the ocean to get some water.

Any time you spend in the ocean does not count towards the quest. However, the islands count as forest.

Tips[]

It's very easy. You need at least 20 Berries and 1-2 Big Fire. When you will be in the Lava biome or in the Desert you need a few hundred ice.

You will need to cross the ocean to reach the desert and lava biome, and you probably will not have time to make a diving mask. Learn to cross the ocean without getting chased by GMO piranhas.

You can do this while doing the dragon and lava quests as well, but you need good skill/luck (no savage on the way, large amounts of food, resouce and time).

In the quests UI, an icon for each biome is shown in red or green, depending on whether you have spent a full day in the biome. This is very useful when doing the quest in conjunction with other quests; you can see when a biome icon turns green and immediately go to the next biome, without worrying about whether you have spent enough time in the current biome (usually, this applies when transitioning from lava to desert).

More information[]

This quest was added in the "Desert" update. Originally, the time limit was 5 days, but it was increased to 6 days in the "Halloween" update and 7 days in the "More ways to kill animals" update.
