Sandworm farming is one of the fastest ways to earn points. This page explains an effective way to farm sandworms, developed by Blobs2.

By farming sandworms, you can easily earn 20K per day, and even reach 30K per day. For comparison, an emerald machine only gives 12K per day (if placed in the desert). When you die, you can only earn 8 golden bread per day, but you can level up quickly and gain additional golden bread.

Because of the insane score rate, you should get the necessary equipment as fast as possible. Use a pilot hat rather than a ninja outfit, since you need to kill one hawk instead of 3 boars (and you gain a lot of points when you claim the quest and craft the hat). Also, you should craft a reidite sword because it is relatively fast to make and is effective against sandworms (do not use a dragon or lava sword because these generally take longer to make). Finally, you should claim your dragon cube, lava cube, and bag quest, since these give you a total of 25K additional points. It is generally not worth doing the life quest, but you should claim this if you do.

Before you attempt to farm sandworms, make sure you know how to do kill sandworms (obviously) and survinve in the desert without a turban.

Preparation

First, you should craft a stone pickaxe, stone sword, and machete. Then start killing wolves and spiders. Craft a book before a bag. Before you go to winter, you should have a gold pickaxe and shovel, a bottle, 14-18 string, 8 hawk feathers, and at least 30 meat. You should also kill a piranha near the beach. Don't make a hat because you need the inventory space, and a diving mask warms you in winter. For inventory space, you should cook all of your fish, and eat the fish and berries before you cook any meat.

Farm the tree line as you enter winter. If there is a blizzard, just go, and have several roofs with you. For best efficiency, place the roof when you are about to take damage (Note: You always have 4 seconds when you get out from under a roof). Since you are not doing the life quest, it is okay to take some damage from the blizzard.

Be sure to get amethyst in 3 days, as you get 7.5K when you claim the dragon cube. Once you have an amethyst pickaxe, you should collect the necessary resources to upgrade your sword. At some point, you will need to kill a penguin. For inventory management reasons, you should recycle your machete once you have killed the penguin. Also make a diving mask, as this warms you in winter.

Before you go to the lava biome, make sure you have 100 diamonds, at least 100 ice, an amethyst pickaxe and sword, and 4 bridges. You can also have some of the amethyst needed to craft a reidite sword, but you can also get this from the lava biome. Also, you should cook all of your food before you leave winter. You should leave winter within 4 days. Once in the lava biome, collect 80 amethyst and 40 reidite, then craft a reidite sword. Before you leave for the desert, make bandages until you have 6 string left, and put the bandages on. Make a roof and bridge, then head to the desert.

If there is a sandstorm, travel as far as you can without dying, then place a roof and bridge. Craft a new roof and bridge, wait until you have mostly healed, then keep going. The second time, you should be able to reach the oasis near the emeralds. If there is not a sanstorm, just go to the emeralds for the pilot quest, then place your roof and bridge at the oasis.

Now make a new machete and kill a vulture. You can kill the vulture with a sword, but a pickaxe is much safer. Once you have killed the vulture, you can craft your pilot hat. You should also make 4 extra bottles. Now you are ready to farm sandworms.

Farming Sandworms

You get 1.2K for each worm you kill, and you get 102 points for each aloe vera you collect. You also need to collect cacti for food, but these do not significantly contribute to your score.

When you find a sandworm, do not kill it immediately. Instead, lead it around to desert to find more sandworms, collecting aloe and cactus as you go. For unknown reasons, it is best to move vertically or diagonally, not horizontally, although you may be able to ignore this depending on your zoom. You should kill the sandworms on the desert border, as this method is fast and safe. Note that for the quest, you must take the box inside the desert.

Occasionally, you will need to refill your bottles, but you can usually use the ocean for this. Also, you should watch out for vultures. If you see a vulture flying, make sure you are not in its aggro range when it lands (but you should have several roofs in case a vulture does start chasing you).

Most of the time, you will have the desert to yourself. Sometimes, noobs wander into the desert, likely because it is near the forest and islands. If you suspect a savage, let them kill your worms for score, and they are more likely to leave you alone. If someone has a base in the desert, you should avoid the base.
