Pumpkin seeds are items used to grow pumpkins. They were added in the "TRICK OR TREAT" update. Pumpkin seeds spawned naturally in the forest, and could be mined by players upon a hit. In order to obtain a pumpkin seed, players can either buy them from the market for 10 bread, or craft it by mining 8 pumpkins near a heat source. In order for them to grow Pumpkins, a player has to plant the seeds at the ground. They can be planted anywhere in the forest and do not require a fire to be planted. They can also be planted in any biome with a plant plot.

When planted, pumpkin seeds look similar to other seeds, but orange. Planted pumpkin seeds grow into a pumpkin after 2 minutes. They will be reverted to a planted seed when the pumpkin is harvested, then regrow every minute (2 minutes according to the tooltip, but the actual time is 1 minute).
Pumpkin seeds will grow into harvestable pumpkins 40% as fast in a plant plot, 20% faster when using a peasant's tunic, and 40% faster when using a winter peasant's tunic (effects from tunic and plant plot stack). This makes plots much more effective for pumpkins than for other plants (the increase is normally 25%).
Pumpkin seeds have a limited amount of health, and last longer when harvested by hand or Pitchfork, instead of hammers or weapons. If not damaged in any way, pumpkin plants naturally de-spawn after 8 days.
Every 3 minutes and 20 seconds (10 minutes with a plot), pumpkin plants dry up. When a pumpkin plant is dried up, it will no longer be able to grow after being harvested. Dried pumpkin plants can be replenished by watering them with a full watering can.
