Overview
Sand is a resource that can be gathered infinitely by using any shovel on the beach, or island. The only use for sand currently is to craft bottles, using a fire and workbench. Gathering sand does not give points.
More Information
The sand was added in the "Vamos A La Playa" update.
You get 1 sand from a Stone Shovel, 2 from a Golden Shovel, 3 from a Diamond Shovel and 4 from a Amethyst Shovel.
